Born To Be
A Child’s Perspective On Transition
Born To Be
Light returns and sees the day
Given truth and come what may
Will we weep for those who play
Childhood dreams, dashed away
The people speak and lies ensue
Robber baron selling news
I am pink, but you say blue
All considered, shame on you
We who are will always be
Born in form, for all to see
How I look just isn’t me
Hear our voice for we are free
Commentary
This piece is in response to the recent decision by the Supreme Court, refusing gender affirming care to minors. All I can say is, if I knew then what I know now about who I am, I would have started a long, long time ago. I don’t regret raising a family, loving and bringing new life into the world. But I do regret all the programming that tries to tell us who we are.
