Fall was always a magical time of year for us. I remember staying up to watch Jerry Lewis on the MDA telethon Labor Day weekend. That was the official “last hurrah” for us prior to school starting. September also marked the beginning of the “cool season,” as we loved to call it, the big three: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, plus snow (or at least cooler weather).

The month of September signals so many changes: weather, school, length of day, climate. And seasons of giving as we remember the blessing of harvest and celebrate connections.

For this week’s Battle prompt, we were given two components: a word (“September”) and a form (“haiku”). We had a great turnout for the prompt, and the full list of responses can be found here:
